Adjusts the price of cash transactions to eliminate the need for pennies.
The bill mandates that the total price of cash transactions in Washington must be rounded to the nearest five cents. If the total price ends in one, two, six, or seven cents, it must be rounded down. If it ends in three, four, eight, or nine cents, it must be rounded up. This rule applies only to transactions paid with legal tender and not to those paid by credit card, debit card, or other instruments. The Department of Revenue will create rules for transactions involving a mix of payment methods.
