The bill creates the office of the state senior independent living ombuds to support seniors living in independent living facilities and the independent living portion of continuing care retirement communities. The Department of Commerce will contract with a private nonprofit organization to provide ombuds services. The ombuds will investigate complaints, monitor laws and policies, and provide information to residents and public agencies. Senior independent living communities must post notices about the ombuds services.
