Adds names of Washington state law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty to the state memorial.
HB2000 amends chapter 79.24 RCW by adding a new section that requires the inclusion of Washington state law enforcement officers on the state memorial if they are ruled to have died in the line of duty under the Hometown Heroes Survivors Benefits Act of 2003. This applies retroactively for five years, covering officers who died on or after January 1, 2020. Once the United States Department of Justice makes a determination, the officer's name will be added to the memorial at the next wall update.
