Expands protections for workers in the state paid family and medical leave program.
The bill amends the Washington State Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act to expand protections for workers. It modifies eligibility requirements, benefit amounts, and employer responsibilities. Employees must work for an employer with 50 or more employees, be employed for at least 12 months, and have worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12 months before leave. The maximum duration of paid family leave is extended to 18 times the typical workweek hours if the employee experiences a serious health condition with a pregnancy that results in incapacity.
