HB1078

Concerning pet insurance.

Chamber Passed·2/10/26

Washington HB1078 regulates pet insurance policies by limiting waiting periods, prohibiting certain denials, and requiring insurer transparency.

Washington HB1078 amends pet insurance regulations to limit waiting periods for preexisting conditions to 30 days for illnesses or orthopedic conditions not resulting from an accident. Waiting periods for accidents are prohibited. Insurers must allow waiting periods to be waived upon completion of a medical examination. Insurers cannot cancel or refuse to renew policies based on the pet's age or the development of a health condition during coverage.
