Washington HB1016 provides employers with a tax credit for hiring veterans and military spouses. The credit equals 20% of wages and benefits, up to $3,000 per qualified employee, starting January 1, 2026. To qualify, employees must be employed full-time for two consecutive quarters. The credit cannot be claimed until the employee has been employed for two full quarters. Credits can be carried over until used, but not beyond January 1, 2037. The total credits allowed per fiscal year cannot exceed $5,000,000.
