The bill establishes a Court Date Reminder Program to notify defendants of scheduled court appearances and payment deadlines. The Program will send text message notifications to defendants with criminal cases or traffic infractions in general district court or circuit court. The notifications will include details such as the date, time, and location of the court appearance, possible consequences of failure to appear, and contact information for inquiries. The Program will also provide at least two reminder notifications for each scheduled court appearance or required payment date.
