HB1317 amends the Line of Duty Act to increase payments to beneficiaries of deceased employees or retirees. Beneficiaries of those who died in the line of duty or within five years of retirement receive $25,000. For deaths occurring after January 1, 2025, the payment increases to $75,000. Payments are made by nonparticipating employers or institutions.
