Honoring Silas R. Loomis for over 50 years of municipal public service as Castleton's First Constable.
The Vermont House of Representatives honors Silas R. Loomis for his more than half-century of extraordinary municipal public service as Castleton's First Constable. Loomis served from 1972 to 2025, conducting summer patrols on a police motorcycle and providing law enforcement support at Castleton Elementary School. He also served in the U.S. Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War and the Army National Guard, totaling 40 years in uniform. Loomis chaired the Vermont Constables’ Association and is a life member of the National Constables and Marshals Association.
