Vermont H0956 approves an amendment to the City of Burlington's charter to establish the Office of Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (REIB). The Office will be overseen by a Director of REIB, a permanent position reporting directly to the Mayor. The Director will develop and implement a comprehensive racial equity, inclusion, and belonging strategy for the City, in collaboration with all City departments. The Office will advance equity and social justice, develop racial equity strategies, and enhance representation in City government for underserved communities.
