Extends the provision for retired educators to resume service as interim educators and receive retirement allowances.
This bill allows beneficiaries of the Vermont State Teachers’ Retirement System to resume service as interim educators for up to one school year and continue receiving retirement allowances. The superintendent must certify that all options to employ a qualified active educator have been exhausted before hiring a retired beneficiary. The State Treasurer can authorize up to two renewals for a one-year period, provided the beneficiary has received a retirement allowance for six months or more before resuming service. The bill takes effect upon passage.
