Vermont H0291 proposes higher tax rates for land posted against hunting, fishing, or trapping in the Use Value Appraisal Program.
Vermont H0291 amends the Use Value Appraisal Program to require land posted against hunting, fishing, or trapping to pay a higher tax rate than agricultural or managed forestland. The Board of Property Tax and Appraisal Review will recommend a tax rate that is 25 percent of the difference between a parcel's use value and its grand list value. The Board will review and establish criteria and values annually, with a public hearing held by October 15. The Director will distribute these valuations to municipalities for appraisal purposes. This act takes effect on July 1, 2025.
