Vermont H0286 seeks to mandate the Secretary of Natural Resources to revise the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Water Supply Rule. The bill sets a maximum contaminant level (MCL) of zero parts per trillion for specific PFAS, including perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid. For other testable PFAS, the MCL would be set at no more than 20 parts per trillion. The changes are to be finalized by July 1, 2026, and the act will take effect on July 1, 2025.
