The bill proposes establishing a two-bed residential peer respite facility in southern Vermont to provide support and services to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. The Department of Mental Health will issue a request for proposals to establish the facility based on an existing model. One bed will be reserved for stays of up to four weeks, and the other for stays of up to two weeks. The Department must contract with an eligible applicant by January 1, 2026.
