Expands eligibility for certified copies of birth and death certificates to include aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
This bill amends the eligibility criteria for obtaining certified copies of birth and death certificates in Vermont. It expands the list of eligible persons to include aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, in addition to the registrant, their spouse, child, grandchild, parent, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, nephew, niece, or guardian; a person petitioning to open a decedent’s estate; a court-appointed executor or administrator; or the legal representative of any of these. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2025.
