She began her nursing career at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston, later moving to Brenham where she continued her vocation at several area clinics and medical centers. Betty served as the mobile district director for State Senator Lois Kolkhorst and was the Kolkhorst campaign accountant. She raised her children and cherished her four grandchildren.
