Proposing a constitutional amendment to allow tax exemption for partially disabled veterans and their surviving spouses.
This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to authorize the Texas legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation part of the market value of the residence homestead of a partially disabled veteran or the surviving spouse of such a veteran. The exemption amount is based on the veteran's disability rating. The surviving spouse can receive the same exemption if they have not remarried and the property remains their homestead. The amendment will be put to a vote in the November 4, 2025 election.
