Establishes the Gulf Coast Protection Account to be administered by the General Land Office.
The bill creates the Gulf Coast Protection Account within the General Land Office. This account will be funded by gifts, donations, grants, and appropriations from the legislature. The funds can only be used for projects that fulfill nonfederal sponsor obligations under agreements with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, comply with a local cooperation agreement, and are designated as Coastal Storm Risk Management Projects within the Coastal Texas Study. The expenditure of money in the account serves a public purpose and is subject to audit by the state auditor.
