Texas SB717 allows certain counties to pay additional compensation to judges and justices for extrajudicial services.
Texas SB717 amends the Texas Government Code to allow the commissioners court of a county to pay additional compensation to judges of the business court for extrajudicial services. The compensation must not exceed the limitations set by Section 659.012 and is paid from the county general fund. The compensation is in addition to the salary paid by the state and any other authorized compensation. The changes apply beginning with the state fiscal biennium starting September 1, 2025.
