Texas SB628 allows county commissioners courts to delegate fire code enforcement to municipalities or emergency services districts.
Texas SB628 amends the Local Government Code to allow county commissioners courts to contract with municipalities or emergency services districts for fire code enforcement. The county fire marshal retains enforcement of state and county fire regulations, but can delegate county fire code enforcement through a contract. Emergency services districts wholly within a county can also enter into interlocal agreements to assume fire code enforcement duties. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
