Texas SB616 amends the Water Code to allow the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to authorize specific types of aquifer storage and recovery projects in Williamson County. The bill permits the injection of groundwater withdrawn from the Edwards Aquifer, storm water, flood water, or groundwater through improved sinkholes or caves in karst areas, and water injections according to certain statutes. It also allows for an aquifer storage and recovery project in Williamson County east of Interstate Highway 35, for injecting water into a geologic formation underlying the Edwards Aquifer.
