Texas SB606 mandates consumer reporting agencies to notify consumers when inaccurate information in their files is corrected.
Texas SB606 amends the Business & Commerce Code to require consumer reporting agencies to ensure that previously reported inaccurate information in a consumer's file is corrected promptly. If a consumer provides an email address, the agency must email the consumer a link to a secure website within 30 business days of the correction, allowing the consumer to obtain a corrected copy of their credit report at no cost. This change applies to corrections submitted to a consumer reporting agency on or after the effective date of the Act, which is September 1, 2025.
