Extends community supervision for defendants who fail to pay fines or costs.

This bill amends the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure to allow judges to extend the period of community supervision for defendants who fail to pay a previously assessed fine or cost. The extension can last as long as the judge determines necessary, but not more than two additional years beyond the three-year limit for misdemeanors. The extension is only permissible if the judge believes it will increase the likelihood of the defendant fully paying the fine or cost. This change applies to individuals on community supervision on or after the effective date of the Act.
