SB303 amends the Texas Government Code to allow courts in counties with a population of 50,000 or more to appoint spoken language interpreters who are not certified or licensed court interpreters. This applies if the language needed is not Spanish and there is no licensed interpreter available within 75 miles, or if the court is a justice court, municipal court, or municipal court of record. The changes will take effect on September 1, 2025.
