Texas SB2957 prohibits unfair service agreements for residential real estate maintenance or sales in Texas.
Texas SB2957 amends the Business & Commerce Code to prohibit unfair service agreements for residential real estate. An unfair service agreement is one that is not performed within a year, binds future owners, allows assignment without consent, or creates a lien. The bill prohibits recording such agreements and allows property owners to seek court orders declaring them void. Entering into such agreements is considered a deceptive practice. The bill takes effect September 1, 2025.
