Texas SB2944 enables the Texas Department of Public Safety to allow driver's license renewal by mail, phone, Internet, or other electronic means. The department may set eligibility standards for this renewal process. It prohibits renewal by these means for those subject to registration requirements under Chapter 62, Code of Criminal Procedure, and for those aged 79 or older. Active military personnel absent from the state and their spouses or dependent children can renew regardless of expiration date. Those under 79 can also renew electronically. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
