Texas SB2536 amends the Education Code to increase the administrative penalty for educators who fail to report misconduct. Specifically, if an educator serving as a superintendent or director fails to file a required report, or if an educator serving as a principal fails to notify a superintendent or director about an educator's criminal record or alleged incident of misconduct, the State Board for Educator Certification may impose a penalty of at least $1,000 and up to $10,000. The certification of an educator cannot be renewed until the penalty is paid.
