Texas SB2419 amends the Local Government Code to allow a special district to retain its powers and duties in areas disannexed by a municipality. This applies even if there was a strategic partnership agreement or other agreement in place before the disannexation. The bill takes effect immediately if approved by two-thirds of the members in both legislative houses, otherwise it will take effect on September 1, 2025.
