Exempts advanced nuclear reactors from cost overages when connecting to the ERCOT transmission system.
This bill amends the Utilities Code to exempt advanced nuclear reactors from cost overages when connecting to the ERCOT transmission system. Specifically, it excludes advanced nuclear reactors from the requirement to pay excess costs incurred during interconnection. An advanced nuclear reactor is defined as a fission-based reactor with a generation capacity between 400 and 1400 megawatts of electricity. The changes take effect September 1, 2025.
