Texas SB2111 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure and other statutes to enhance legal representation for indigent persons and proceedings before a magistrate. It allows for the appointment of attorneys to represent indigent persons in magistrate proceedings if funds are appropriated. It also modifies the rights and duties of magistrates in informing arrested individuals of their rights and the process for appointing counsel. The bill establishes a program for repaying education loans for public defense attorneys and creates the Texas Public Defense Internship and Fellowship Program.
