SB2041 amends Section 264.107(c) of the Texas Family Code to detail the factors the Department of Family and Protective Services must consider when selecting a foster care placement for a child. The department must ensure the placement is in the child's best interest, considering it as the least restrictive setting, closest to the child's home, most able to meet the child's needs, and able to meet long-term needs including placement stability. The changes take effect September 1, 2025.
