Texas SB1988 abolishes the state lottery and transfers related duties to the Texas Lottery Commission.

Texas SB1988 abolishes the state lottery by repealing relevant provisions in the Government Code and transferring duties related to lottery prize payments, penalties, and enforcement to the Texas Lottery Commission. The bill also removes certain individuals from eligibility to be appointed as commission members, including those registered in the field of bingo or lottery, those owning a financial interest in lottery-related businesses, and those convicted of certain crimes.
