Texas SB1932 establishes presumptions for certain medical conditions in first responders.
Texas SB1932 amends the Government Code to presume that a firefighter, peace officer, or emergency medical technician who suffers an acute myocardial infarction or stroke during or shortly after a shift involving nonroutine stressful or strenuous physical activity suffered the condition during the course and scope of employment. The changes apply to claims for benefits or compensation brought on or after the effective date of the Act. The Act takes effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in both houses of the Texas Legislature; otherwise, it takes effect September 1, 2025.
