Texas SB1822 amends the Insurance Code to regulate the use of artificial intelligence-based algorithms in utilization review for certain health benefit plans. Insurers must annually submit their AI algorithms and training data sets to the department for review, along with an attestation of compliance with non-bias and evidence-based guidelines. Additionally, insurers must disclose to insured individuals, enrollees, and healthcare providers whether they use AI in utilization review, both online and in writing. The act takes effect September 1, 2025.
