Texas SB1640 modifies the criteria for accessing criminal history record information for Medicaid providers and applicants. The Health and Human Services Commission and the office of inspector general are authorized to obtain criminal history records of individuals with a five percent or more ownership interest in a provider or applicant, or managing employees. The bill takes effect April 1, 2025, if approved by two-thirds of the legislature, otherwise September 1, 2025.
