Texas SB1635 provides a credit for windstorm and hail insurance costs against recapture payments for certain school districts.
Texas SB1635 amends the Education Code to provide a credit for windstorm and hail insurance costs against recapture payments for school districts located in first or second tier coastal counties. The credit applies to the amount a school district must pay to purchase attendance credit for a school year, reducing it by the amount spent on windstorm and hail insurance in the previous school year. This credit is applied after any other reductions to which the district is entitled. The changes take effect September 1, 2025.
