Texas SB1588 amends the Family Code to increase the penalty for failing to report child abuse or neglect. The offense is now a Class A misdemeanor, except it becomes a state jail felony if the actor intended to conceal the abuse or neglect or if the conduct involved specific severe offenses. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
