Texas SB1477 provides a franchise tax credit for entities participating in the federal E-verify program.
SB1477 amends the Texas Tax Code to create a franchise tax credit for entities that register with and participate in the federal E-verify program for at least 12 consecutive months. The credit amount equals the franchise tax due after applying other credits, and entities can only claim one credit. The credit applies to reports due on or after January 1, 2026. The comptroller will adopt rules to implement and administer this credit. The act takes effect immediately if approved by two-thirds of the legislature, otherwise it takes effect September 1, 2025.
