Establishes the office of medical examiner in Texas counties with a population over one million and allows smaller counties to establish the office.

The bill amends the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure to require counties with a population over one million to establish and maintain the office of medical examiner. Counties with a population under one million may establish the office. Additionally, the commissioners courts of two or more counties, regardless of population size, may enter into an agreement to create a medical examiners district and jointly operate and maintain the office of medical examiner of the district. The district must include the entire area of all counties involved and the counties must form a continuous area.
