SB1295 requires public officials and attorneys assisting them to complete training on open meetings and public information laws. Specifically, attorneys assisting public officials or governmental bodies must finish the required training by October 1, 2025. Public officials who have not previously completed the training must do so by January 1, 2026. The Act also stipulates that attorneys cannot be compensated for the time spent on this training unless they are employees of the governmental body. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
