Texas SB1039 establishes an annual $100 allotment per student for school uniforms in districts requiring them.
Texas SB1039 amends the Education Code to create a school uniform allotment under the Foundation School Program. Each school district with a uniform requirement is entitled to an annual allotment of $100 per student in average daily attendance. Funds can only be used to provide uniforms to students mandated to wear them. If the appropriated funds are insufficient, the commissioner prioritizes allotments to districts receiving Title I funding under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
