Born in Waco, Sallye Moore dedicated over four decades to education, starting as a teacher in Slaton and eventually becoming the principal of Dalworth Elementary School. She established honors, early childhood, and special education programs, and later served as director of curriculum and instruction and associate superintendent for the Grand Prairie Independent School District.
