Recognizes March 18, 2025, as Navarro County Day at the State Capitol.
The House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature recognizes March 18, 2025, as Navarro County Day at the State Capitol. Navarro County, established on April 25, 1846, was named after José Antonio Navarro, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The county seat, Corsicana, was named by Navarro to honor his father's birthplace. The community developed as a trading and shipping center after the Houston and Texas Central Railroad was completed in 1871. Drilling for groundwater led to the discovery of oil, resulting in the first oil boom in Texas.
