The House of Representatives recognizes April 16, 2025, as Real County Day at the State Capitol. Real County, located along the Balcones Escarpment, was established in 1913 from parts of Edwards, Bandera, and Kerr Counties. Named for Julius Real, a former Kerr County judge, the county was initially supported by ranching and the Uvalde and Northern Railway. Today, Real County's economy benefits from tourism, retail, and construction, with notable communities including Camp Wood and Leakey.
