The House of Representatives honors Brentwood Baptist Church in Houston for its community service and growth. Founded in 1965, the church has expanded significantly under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Joe Samuel Ratliff and his wife, Doris Ernestine Gardner Ratliff. It has constructed several new buildings, including the Brentwood Cottages for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and established 75 ministries, including the Brentwood Community Foundation. The church's membership has grown from 500 to 12,000, and it has acquired 105 additional acres of land.
