Recognizes March 5, 2025, as Hunt County Day at the State Capitol.
The House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature recognizes March 5, 2025, as Hunt County Day at the State Capitol. Hunt County, located in northeastern Texas, was settled by Anglo Americans with land grants from the Mexican government and was formed in 1846. The county is named for Memucan Hunt Jr., the first minister to the United States from the Republic of Texas. Agriculture was once the leading industry, but manufacturing has since taken the lead. The county is home to over 113,000 people, with major population centers in Greenville and Commerce.
