Texas House of Representatives congratulates Dr. Bernard A. Harris Jr. on his induction into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.

Dr. Bernard A. Harris Jr. is being inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame on May 31, 2025. The resolution congratulates him on this achievement and his contributions to science and technology. Harris, a Temple native, began dreaming of a career as an astronaut after watching the first moon landing. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Houston and his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He became the first African American to walk in space and served at key NASA facilities.
