The House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature recognizes March 5, 2025, as Port Aransas Day at the State Capitol and welcomes the visiting delegation. Port Aransas, a historic coastal town, has a rich heritage dating back to the early 1800s when it was frequented by the buccaneer Jean Lafitte. The town, initially called Ropesville, was renamed Tarpon in 1863 and later designated as Port Aransas in 1911.
