Texas HR1086 commends the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion for its contributions during World War II. The 6888th, known as the "Six Triple Eight," was the only Women's Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas. Deployed to Europe in 1944, the 855-member unit, including 44 Texans, cleared vast backlogs of undelivered mail in England and France. Overcoming racism and sexism, the battalion completed its work in just three months and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2022.
