Texas HR1074 commends the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion for its contributions during World War II. The 6888th, known as the "Six Triple Eight," was the only Women's Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas during the war. Deployed to Europe in 1944, the mostly African American battalion cleared a backlog of undelivered mail for U.S. service members, government personnel, and Red Cross workers in England and France. The unit completed its mission in just three months and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2022.
